
AVID’s Big News – SES PodFAST

Fishing lifestyle brand Avid has some big news: it has a new financial and operational partner. GMPC, a provider of design and production resources for brands, has moved from being a vendor of Avid’s to an investor. Industry veteran Bill Gage has joined GMPC and Avid, and will serve as Brand Manager.

With the new partnership, GMPC will provide help in areas such as planning and sourcing, product design, finance, accounting, logistics, technology and sales.
Avid will continue to lead brand strategy, creative design direction, and marketing. Avid remains its own entity with control of the brand. The goal is to provide Avid with what it needs to scale the business in the hot fishing sector.
While at Surf Expo, we talked with Bill and Avid Co-Founder Tim Johnson about the new partnership and what it means for Avid. We also discussed Avid’s expansion plans, including what kind of retailers they plan to target as they move west, the veteran rep force the brand has assembled, and more.
