All about the Executive Edition

What is Executive Edition?

Executive Edition is an exclusive membership level of Shop-eat-surf that gives you access to articles and podcasts that go beyond the news of the day — in-depth reporting and research by our team on earnings reports, CEO interviews, brand and retail trends, and more — plus member reward offers and discounts on business services, travel, golf, food, and beverage.

Why is Executive Edition available only to paying subscribers?

Your monthly or annual subscription is a key revenue source that allows us to go around the world to report important industry business stories and podcasts.

Unlike many other sites and mags, we don’t accept travel, lodging, or product from the brands and retailers in the surf, skate, snow, swim & activewear, and youth fashion segments we report on. And we don’t offer or accept advertising from those companies.

In short, we pay our own way, so you know there’s no “pay to play” for our news stories and podcasts. Your membership subscriptions let us do that and pay the bills.

Our readers are our biggest supporters, and we invite you to join as a member today.

What are the subscription levels?

We offer two regular membership levels:

  1. Monthly membership subscriptions are $16.99
  2. Annual membership subscriptions are $125.99 — saving you $50 vs 12 monthly payments

  1. Two-year subscriptions, at 10% discount when paid in advance, for $190, which saves $21 from full rate.

What's included in a membership?

All membership levels include access to Executive Edition articles, podcasts, and member rewards.

Can I get a free trial?

We don’t give away our membership stories and access, but here’s what’s free on Shop-eat-surf:

  • Previews of all Executive Edition articles and podcasts
  • About half of our reported stories
  • Our shorter-form PodFASTs

Full access to Executive Edition articles, podcasts, and rewards is available to active members. 

Do I have to agree to recurring billing?

Yes, you authorize monthly, annual, or bi-annual recurring billing when you start and pay for your membership subscription.

All member levels require recurring billing to be paid in advance and in full before access to Executive Edition is activated.

You can cancel your subscription at any time by clicking the Executive Edition link in the navigation bar atop every page, and then selecting My Account from the drop down menu. Your membership will remain active until your next renewal date.

How to manage your Executive Edition

My membership is active: Why can't I get into Executive Edition?

Here are ways to troubleshoot login troubles:

Are you logged in? To check:

  • Go to the top of any page. In the top right corner, you'll see a link. If you're logged in, the link will say "log out." If you're not logged in, the link will say "log in." 

If you're logged in, but can't open Executive Edition articles, please check your account status:

  • If your subscription has lapsed for any reason, you'll see a big red "expired" button near the top right corner of any page. Please click that button to renew.
  • Or, check your status details by clicking  on the Executive Edition label in the navigation bar across the top of any page.
  • Then click My Account
  • Then look for the status in your dashboard, which displays in the middle of the page.
  • - If your status is "active" or "pending cancellation," you should be able to open Executive Edition. If you can't, please click here to email our customer service for help.
  • - If your status is "expired" or "cancelled," you'll need to renew your membership. Click the big red "expired" button or the green "Join" button at the top right of any page.

If you're not logged in, but your account should be active:

  • Please go to the top of any page, and click the "login" link near the top right corner. Be sure to use the email address linked to your membership. Please use the "reset password" feature if your password doesn't work.
  • Our site has "perpetual login," meaning that once you've logged in, you'll stay logged in, until ... you log out. You can be logged out if you update your software, clear your browser history or cache, or actively log out. 
  • Please note that perpetual login applies to each of your devices separately, so you'll need to login to each of your devices: phone, tablet, laptop, desktop, etc.
Can I share my Executive Edition with co-workers and customers?

While we recognize that everyone shares an occasional article or podcast, we ask that you not regularly share Executive Edition with non-members.

Your membership is an individual license to access Executive Edition articles, podcasts, and rewards.

By signing up for your membership, you agree to not disseminate, distribute, post, or otherwise widely share Executive Edition content or your login credentials.

Violations of your individual license will result in termination of your membership without refund.

How do I update my email login, password, billing address, or credit card?

To update or change your email address, billing information, or credit card:

  • Click on the Executive Edition label in the navigation bar across the top of any page.
  • Then click My Account.
  • Then click on the links on the left of that page to update your information.

To update your password:

  • Click on the Executive Edition label in the navigation bar across the top of any page.
  • Then click Reset Password.
How can I tell whether my account is active or expired?

You can check your account status from the My Account page:

  • Click on the Executive Edition label in the navigation bar across the top of any page.
  • Then click My Account.
  • View your member status in the dashboard in the middle of the page: Active, Pending Cancelation (you can access Executive Edition until your renewal date), Expired, Canceled.

If your membership is active, and if you're logged in, you'll be able to view Executive Edition articles, listen to podcasts, and view and redeem member rewards.

If your membership is expired, and you are logged in, the site will display a big red box labeled "expired" at the top of all pages, and at the beginning of Executive Edition articles and podcasts. To renew, click the expired button and you'll be guided through renewal.

How do I check my renewal date?

You can check your account status from your My Account page:

  • Click on the Executive Edition label in the navigation bar across the top of any page.
  • Then click My Account.
  • You can see your account status, renewal payment date, and renewal payment amount in the dashboard that displays in the middle of the page
How do I cancel my membership?

To cancel:

  • Click on the Executive Edition label in the navigation bar across the top of any page.
  • Then click My Account.
  • Then click the "cancel" link on the left of that page
  • Your cancelation will be immediate, and you won't be charged again
  • Your membership will remain active until your next renewal date
  • To request a refund, please email our customer service and let us know your name, renewal date, email login, and reason for cancelation and refund.
I just got charged for a renewal I don't want. How do I cancel and get a refund?

To cancel:

  • Click on the Executive Edition label in the navigation bar across the top of any page.
  • Then click My Account
  • Then click cancel

To request a refund:

  • Please send an email to our customer service, and include your name, email login, renewal date and amount, and reason for cancelation and refund.

A reminder that all members authorize recurring billing as part of the terms and conditions you must accept before completing your membership registration and subscription payment.

Giving Executive Edition, terms, and contact us

How can I give a gift subscription?

It's easy!

  1. Click the big green "Join" button near the top right of any page
  2. Select your gift subscription level
  3. Enter your billing information - credit card, billing address, etc.
  4. But enter the gift recipients email address, and create a password for them (they can change it later)
  5. Complete your payment
How do I buy a subscription for my boss or co-worker?

It's easy!

  1. Click the big green "Join" button near the top right corner of any page
  2. Pick the member level
  3. Enter your billing information if you're going to pay, or their billing information if they're paying
  4. Be sure to enter their email address, and create a password for them, and tell them what it is -- they can change it later
  5. Complete payment
What are the terms and conditions of Executive Edition membership subscriptions?

Your Executive Edition membership subscription is an individual license to access Executive Edition articles, podcasts, and rewards.

By completing your subscription purchase, you agree to these terms and conditions:

  • You agree to recurring billing each year on the anniversary date of your signup for annual memberships, or each month on the same day for monthly memberships, until you cancel
  • You agree that your membership is your individual license to access Executive Edition articles, podcasts, and rewards
  • You agree that you will not share your password or otherwise give access to your membership to non-members
  • You agree that you will not duplicate, share, or widely disseminate the full text of articles or audio of podcasts with non-members

We encourage you to share links to all of our articles and podcasts on social media.

But sharing your password, or copying, distributing, and/or publishing Executive Edition articles and podcasts without express, written prior consent from Shop-eat-surf is a violation of these terms and conditions, and will result in immediate termination of your subscription without refund.
