Resurgent Crocs Increasingly Popular with Teens
A resurgent Crocs is resonating with teens, according to the latest Piper Jaffray Taking Stock with Teens survey.
Among the guys and girls surveyed, Crocs came in No. 7 on the list of favorite footwear brands, up from No. 13 last year.
The brand has used clever collaborations to go from a brand that was a joke several years ago to one that is desired by teenagers.
Crocs has collaborated with hipster streetwear brand Chinatown Market, music star Post Malone, Japanese fashion store Beams, and high fashion department store Barneys New York. Several of the collaborations sold out quickly.
Crocs also appears to be benefitting from the VSCO fashion trend with girls, which translates into a girl who wears scrunchies, Birkenstocks or Crocs, and an oversized T-shirt and carries a Hydro Flask covered in stickers and uses a metal straw. (VSCO is a photo-editing app.)
Here’s the complete Top 10 list of Favorite Footwear brands for both genders combined, according to the Piper Jaffray survey.
- Foot Locker
- Crocs and New Balance (tied)
- Under Armour
- Steve Madden
After years of struggle, Crocs as a company is posting more positive financial results and expects revenue to grow 9% to 11% this year.
