New Global GM for DC Shoes Arrives
Quiksilver has hired a new Global GM for DC Shoes.
Mike Jensen most recently worked at Asics for almost five years. Prior to that, he worked at Spy Optics, DC, and Converse.
His background is in sales, product and merchandising. At Asics, he had a GM role for the lifestyle division in America, and was responsible for product, sales and marketing.
In an interview, Mike said he has been passionate about the DC brand since the time he worked at the company.
“I worked for DC from 2007 to 2009, and I never stopped loving the brand,” he said.
Mike’s expertise is in athletic footwear and apparel, with a focus on consumer behavior. He is looking forward to studying DC’s current consumers, which have changed over the past several years.
I asked Mike to describe his leadership style. He’s not the type to come in and make a lot of disruptive changes off the bat, he said.
“The first thing I need to do is understand what’s going on, and get to know the people here,” he said. “I’m a team builder – I’m all about building great teams that perform at a high level, and empowering people to make great decisions.”
However, “One thing we will be is consumer obsessed in how we approach consumers,” Mike added.
With Mike’s arrival, it made me wonder about the status of Jeff Taylor, DC’s SVP of Global Brand and Marketing, who has been the defacto brand leader for awhile now. I checked yesterday, and he is still with the company.
