Otis College of Art & Design surprises Bob McKnight with special honor

Quiksilver Chairman Bob McKnight

Quiksilver Chairman Bob McKnight received a surprise on-stage tribute Saturday night during the Otis College of Art and Design annual art and design awards.

Industry leaders turned out for Bob’s honor, including Volcom co-founder Richard Woolcott and North America President Kevin Meehan, Billabong CEO Neil Fiske, International Surfing Association President Fernando Aguerre, and former longtime Quiksilver executive Randy Hild.

The Otis event also honored fashion designer Trina Turk, who received the 2015 Otis Fashion Innovation Award; Carlos Alberini, CEO of denim label Lucky Brand, accepted the 2015 Otis Fashion Leadership Award; and retailer PacSun under the leadership of CEO Gary Schoenfeld, was honored with the Otis 2015 Creative Vision Award.

Gary wasn’t able to attend the event, unfortunately, because his son graduated from college the same weekend, according to Otis representatives.

PacSun sponsored the fashion show at the gala, which featured the student design project “Shipwrecked.” Students were challenged to use recycled and repurposed materials and give their designs a sun-bleached look.
