SOL REPUBLIC continues to grow

Press release:

January 28, 2014 – San Francisco, CA. – Committed to changing the world one listener at a time, SOL REPUBLIC announced its Savior of Sound (SOS) snow team today with snowboarders Gigi Ruf, Chris Bradshaw, Justin Fronius and Sam Taxwood. They join SOL REPUBLIC as its newest Saviors of Sound, adding to SOL REPUBLIC’s growing family of athletes and musicians who, like SOL REPUBLIC, believe in the power of music. This new team joins other SOS including Julian Wilson, Nate Adams, Lizard King and Steve Aoki.

“We are excited to expand our roster to include these extraordinary athletes,” said SOL REPUBLIC’s Brian Cassaro. “This group of athletes is passionate about music and will be instrumental in telling our story to the snowboarding world.”

Recently awarded Transworld Snowboarding “Rider of the Year” for 2013, Austrian Gigi Ruf continues to throw down epic backcountry video parts year after year. His unique style, consistency and big tricks make him one of snowboarding’s greatest icons. This past year he also took home the coveted top spot from Red Bull’s Ultra Natural and last week, Snowboarder Magazine announced him as the 2014 rider of the year.

Bear Mountain local Chris Bradshaw is known for his signature style in the park and in the streets. Down to earth and always ready to strap in, Chris continues to inspire youth today by encouraging and working with up and coming riders. When he isn’t riding, he is fishing, skating, working on his motorcycle, helping clean up his local rivers and taking care of his two kids.

Minnesota native Justin Fronius is taking the snowboarding community by storm and is considered as one of the best up-and-comers in the industry. Justin had an amazing 2013 with closing part in the Videograss movie, The Last Ones and was recognized by being voted the 2013 “Rookie of the Year” by Snowboarder Magazine.

From Salt Lake City, Sam Taxwood is only 19 years old and has already made a huge impact on the new generation of snowboarders with his smooth, strong style. His opening part in in Videograss’ Roll Call was one of the heaviest rail parts to date. Last year at Snowboarder Magazine’s SuperPark 17, Sam was a awarded the Chelone Miller Charger Award for being the first guy to step to every feature and for sending it all week long.

“Snowboarding lets me travel and carry on the goodtimes,” said Gigi Ruf. “When I think back to a lifetime of stories, music is the trigger. Music is memories and I’m excited to join a program that is built on great sounding music.”
