Mandy Fry exits Volcom

Mandy Fry

Well-regarded industry designer Mandy Fry has departed Volcom after a short stay to pursue a personal project.

Her last day at Volcom was Friday.

Mandy joined Volcom as VP of Women’s in May and was in charge of the overall creative direction for product and brand image.

It was a newly created position for Volcom, and signified the growing importance the brand was placing on the division. She hired many new people and launched a new design direction for the women’s team.

Previously, Mandy spent 12 years at Billabong and was one of the keys behind the success of Billabong Girls.

Mandy and Volcom CEO Jason Steris emailed me the following comments after I reached out to them when I heard the news of Mandy’s departure.

“The decision to leave Volcom has not come easily. My time here has been such a positive experience and one that I will forever be grateful for. I am honored to have had the opportunity to work with such an amazing creative team and become friends with some insanely talented people. Jason and the rest of the executive team have been so supportive and its been inspiring to see them supporting the Women’s business and making it a top priority for the brand.

“I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together at Volcom since I came on board and am pleased to see the Women’s brand in a great position for continued success. I am leaving to explore a personal project and a life long dream but I will miss the Volcom team and wish them nothing but the best.”

Volcom CEO Jason Steris

“Working with Mandy Fry over the last seven months has been a very successful chapter for the brand.  Although her tenure at Volcom was brief, we accomplished what we set out to achieve and we are well positioned for the future.

“The latest response to our Fall 2014 collection and brand direction has been extremely well received.  I am confident that our newly assembled women’s team has the experience and vision to build on this momentum.  I want to thank Mandy for her contributions and wish her the best of luck as she embarks on her new project.”
