evo Anniversary Party Announced To Celebrate 10 Years Of Forward Movement

evo to celebrate in newly renovated Fremont Collective on October 21, 2011

SEATTLE, Wash (September 13, 2011) – After ten years of growth through some of the most innovative decisions and challenging times in the action sports industry, Seattle-based Evolución Innovations (evo) has become a rare entity in the retail sector through a successfully backwards business model – first online, then brick-and-mortar, and in the near future, print.

On October 21, 2011, evo will host business and community partners, family, friends and customers in Seattle to recognize those who have loyally backed its unique ideals and who joined to form the vibrant culture that has made evo one of the biggest nationwide success stories in action sports retail this decade.

Founded in 2002 at a midpoint in his college career, Bryce Phillips started evo with a set of core values dubbed the “Great Eight,” focusing on credibility, authenticity, respect and above all “evolución”.

With the help of evo’s diverse, yet tightly knit staff combined with a counter-tradition business model, Phillips and the shop have grown from two employees in 2002 to more than 100 today. evo is no ordinary retailer, as it hosts everything from musical events to art shows, movie premiers, and off-site events, and has a knack for collaborating inside and outside of the industry to pull together a creative and passionate culture of individuals who are enthusiastic about both the sports and the lifestyle.

“Passion for building community is a driving force; both on a national level and locally in Seattle,” said Phillips.

“We are excited about the opportunity to become community anchors in urban settings with diverse groups of people who share common interests. Music events, movie premiers, art exhibitions, benefits to help children in need, partnerships and simply providing a great place in a central location are all ways that we work to build and strengthen community.”

Evo’s 10-year anniversary event will be held in the recently renovated Fremont Collective, one of many restoration projects Phillips has undertaken through his real estate venture. Events will include evo’s second winter outerwear fashion show, USNAPS photobooth, silent auction, gift bags, red carpet, free-skate at Innerspace and a special musical guest.

Benefits from this years event will be offered to The Service Board, a youth focused non-profit that engages kids through skateboard and snowboard mentorships, another continuing focus for Phillips and evo.

While the musical headliner will be kept to rumors until the 21st, evo’s track record leaves excitement for another action-packed night, having hosted artists such as Common Market, Snow Patrol and legendary emcee Talib Kweli, who closed out the first anniversary of the retail shop.

Sponsors will include The North Face, Ride, Oakley, Bonfire, GORE-TEX, K2 Skis, Nike, Smith, Burton, Orage, Salomon Freeski, Armada and more.
