Bruce Cromartie, owner of 14 BC Surf & Sport stores, predicts a continued tough environment for 2010 and says difficult times may continue for the industry even if the economy improves. What’s the biggest impact the recession has had on the industry this year, both with regard to business impact and the industry’s psyche? I think the biggest single impact is that it has forced everyone to tighten up their buying (vendors as well as retailers), and pay a lot closer attention to what their real inventory needs are at any given time.
