Quik to design Hang Ten line for Kohls

Quik to design Hang Ten line

Kohl’s announced this morning that it struck a licensing deal with American Brand Holdings to become the exclusive retailer of Hang Ten for a wide variety of merchandise.

Described as a California lifestyle collection for young shoppers, the line will launch in spring 2009 in 240 Kohl’s stores and eventually expand to all 957 stores.

Hang Ten was one of the most successful early surfwear brands and its logo, an imprint of a bare foot, is well known.

Building on the successful collaboration with Quiksilver on the Tony Hawk line, also sold at Kohl’s, Quiksilver will handle the design and packaging of the clothes and accessories while Kohl’s will handle the manufacturing, production, distribution and marketing of the brand.

The line will be aimed at juniors, young men, boys 8-20, girls 7-16 and girls 4-6x.

Hang Ten is the latest iconic brand to move to a discount chain. Wal-Mart is now the exclusive retailer of Op. Target has announced a collaboration with snowboarder Shaun White and Kmart is launching a boardriding clothing brand.
