Jack's delays San Clemente opening; eyes the South Bay

I recently heard from Jamal Abdelmuti, one of the co-owners of Jack's Surfboards, that the Jack's partners decided to delay the opening of their San Clemente location.

Jack's purchased the property on Avenida Del Mar Avenue in San Clemente last year. The 6,500-square-foot store was scheduled to open this summer. 

Here's what Jamal had to say:

"Due to the recent economic downturn, we postponed the opening of our recent acquisition in San Clemente. We have set a tenative schedule to open the store by no later then 2011. We want to focus our attention on ramping up our newest store in Irvine.

"Also, we have plans to move into the South Bay Area by 2010. We already have our eye on a few locations in Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach. If the economy pulls through by late 2009 we will go ahead and pull the trigger by setting up our flagship store in the South Bay by 2010."

Jack's operates stores in Huntington Beach (men's and women's), Corona Del Mar, Dana Point, Newport Beach and Irvine.
