Bulgari sells more than jewelry now at SCP

Bulgari at South Coast Plaza

Orange County shoppers have shown their love for Bulgari over the years. The Italian luxury jewelry maker started with a 700-square-foot store at South Coast Plaza in 1994. The company now occupies 2,600 square feet with the debut of a new accessories shop this month.

Bulgari has two connecting "twin" stores side-by-side. The new shop carries Bulgari purses, ties, wallets, sunglasses, fragrances and briefcases, including $2,500 evening bags and $7,000 handbags. For those with less disposable income, an entry line of wallets starts at $180.

From what I'm hearing, Orange County shoppers have not disappointed. A source tells me as soon as the doors opened at the new accessories store, goods were flying off the shelves.

I guess some people aren't impacted by the housing slump.
