Hollister comp store sales fall in May

The girls business is dragging down results at Hollister.


Here are the May same-store sales numbers for Hollister and the other Abercrombie and Fitch chains.


Companywide: down 1 percent


Hollister: down 7 percent

Guys: up low-single digits

Girls: down low-double digits


Abercrombie & Fitch: up 6 percent

Guys: up mid teens

Girls: down low-single digits


Abercrombie: down 10 percent

Boys: up low-single digits

Girls: down mid teens


Ruehl: down 24 percent

Mens: down high-single digits

Women: down mid 30s


Strong female categories companywide: jeans, fleece, swim

Weak categories: knit tops, graphic T's, shorts


Strong male categories companywide: knit and fleece tops, fragrance, jeans

Weak categories: shorts, graphic T's


Strong regions: U.S.-based tourist stores, international stores

Weak regions: New England, Midwest
