Apparel sales weak at Zumiez in May

Zumiez reported a 0.2 percent increase in same-store sales for May.
Strong categories: footwear and skate hardgoods
Weak categories: juniors apparel and mens apparel
More on footwear: During Zumiez first quarter conference call, executives noted that footwear was performing better. They attributed the improvement to: trend right shoes, especially with color; easier comparisons; and PacSun exiting the shoe business.
Here's the weekly breakdown of same-store sales:
Week 1: down 0.1 percent
Week 2: up 3 percent
Week 3: up 2.7 percent
Week 4: down 4.3 percent
