Photos from final day at Pipeline

The Billabong Pipeline Master wrapped up today in Hawaii as did the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing.

Australian Kieren Perrow won the Pipeline Masters and Hawaii’s John John Florence won the Triple Crown of Surfing at 19 years old.

I must confess I found myself rooting for Perrow after seeing him throughout the Pipeline competition in the bleachers.

This is a guy who is sponsored by Rhythm rather than a big brand. There was no entourage, and he wasn’t sleeping in a brand house on the beach.

When he wasn’t surfing, he was keeping an eye on his son, Tosh, who scampered up and down the bleachers. And unlike so many other surfers on the North Shore, no camera crews followed Kieren around during his stay.

Got to love it sometimes when an underdog and journeyman wins.
