Hollister comp store sales dive in July

Hollister got roughed up in July with same-store sales falling 11 percent.


For Abercrombie & Fitch, which owns Hollister and several other chains, comp store sales companywide fell 7 percent.


Weaker than expected July results caused the company to lower second quarter earnings guidance.


Hollister guys: up mid-single digits


Hollister girls: down in the mid teens


Strongest regions companywide: Flagship stores, US tourist stores, Southwest


Weakest regions companywide: Midwest


Strong male categories companywide: knit tops, shorts, jeans, fragrance


Weak male categories: graphic T-shirts


Strong female categories companywide: jeans


Weak female categories: knit tops, fleece, woven pants
