Nordstrom continues to struggle in July

Same-store sales at Nordstrom declined 6.1 percent in July which was consistent with its outlook, the company said.


Nordstrom's anniversary sale on fall goods led to a "small improvement over recent trends," the company said in its recorded sales message.


Full-priced Nordstrom stores are suffering the most, with same-store sales down 9.1 percent in July. At Nordstrom Rack, same-store sales rose 6.4 percent.


Strongest categories: Designer goods, cosmetics and accessories.


Strongest regions: Northwest, Southern states, Midwest

 

Full-priced stores

 

Q2 same-store sales: down 9 percent

YTD same-store sales: down 9.1 percent

 

Nordstrom Rack

 

Q2 same-store sales: up 6.3 percent

YTD same-stores sales: up 5.4 percent


Nordstrom operates 105 full-priced stores and 50 Nordstrom Rack stores.
