Guys comp sales decline at PacSun in July

The action sports industry's biggest customer had a tough July with same-store sales falling 4 percent.


Juniors continued to post strong results while guys apparel sales softened.


Here are more details:


Apparel comps: up 11 percent. Apparel accounted for 81 percent of total comp store sales.

Girls apparel: up 24 percent

Strong categories: Bullhead denim, tops, dresses

Weak categories: swim and shorts

Guys apparel: down slightly

Strong categories: Bullhead denim

Tops: flat

Weak categories: swim and shorts

Footwear: down mid 60s as PacSun exits the sneaker business

Accessories: down low 20s

Strong regions: Texas, Midwest, New England

Weak regions: Florida, Desert Southwest, California, Rocky Mountains/Great plains.

Guidance: The company updated its earnings per share guidance for the second quarter to 5 cents to 6 cents per share. Previously, the company had forecast earnings per share of 3 cents to 8 cents per share.
