This weekend Sun Diego celebrated its 30th Anniversary and the Grand opening of its flagship store at Fashion Valley Mall with an array of festivities.

All day Saturday and Sunday various brands hosted athlete signings, fashion shows and giveaways to ring in the San Diego action sports retailer’s 30 years of history .

Surfers Bethany Hamilton, Damien Hobgood, Taylor Knox and more all showed up throughout the weekend to sign autographs for the public. There was also a 20% sale all day Saturday and Sunday.

Sun Diego topped off the weekend with a party Sunday night for industry executives and insiders.

The new store, which is upstairs across from Victoria’s Secret is 5,866 square feet and full of custom build-outs and unique, one-of-a-kind fixtures from the top action sports brands.

“It makes the industry look so inspirational,” said Greg Osthus of Reef, referring to the store look and layout.

“Size matters, but class is as important and this shop is as classy as it is big,” added Fernando Aguerre, President of the ISA.

Dave Nash, owner of Sun Diego, was all smiles and extremely busy the entire night entertaining and hosting everyone who came.

There was a wide assortment of freshly prepared sushi, gourmet pizza and a full bar of beer and wine for guests to enjoy.

One guest commented how many brand presidents were at the actual event.

“It truly shows how important Sun Diego is to San Diego,” he said.
