Retailers head into Q3 from Q2 in a positive direction

September 02, 2010 03:53 PM

Press Release:

At the end of Q2 2010, quarter to quarter positive sales and margin trends continue to be on the rise according to the specialty retailers that participated in the most recent Board-Trac/Board Retailers Association Specialty Retail study. After a sharp decline in sales among participating retailers in Q1 2010 after the Q4 09 holiday season - which, according to retailers is expected, especially in January - they are once again tracking in a positive direction.

According to the survey, which included 160 specialty retailers, over 58.3% indicated that sales were up, with another 17.3% saying sales they were flat. Margin comparisons bring even more positive news as over 86.9% of the retailers indicate that margins were up or flat in Q2 2010 compared to Q1 2010, a 14.9% increase over previous quarters.

In addition to the weather and/seasonality, retailers attributed better customer service, better management of existing resources, better product mix from existing brands and improving economy/ consumer confidence contributed to their positive increases.
