Surfrider Foundation's official announcement in response to today's comments by President Obama

This morning the White House announced that it will be extending the existing moratorium on new deepwater well drilling for 6 months, along with plans to cancel the proposed lease sales off the coast of Virginia and the Gulf of Mexico, as well as a suspending planned exploration of two sites in Alaska.

In response, the Surfrider Foundation issued the following statement:

Surfrider Foundation"While the Surfrider Foundation lauds the steps taken today by the White House, we are steadfast in our stance that this is not enough and call upon President Obama, as well as our congressional representatives, to immediately enact a permanent moratorium on new offshore drilling."

To help the Surfrider Foundation's efforts to restore the moratorium on offshore oil drilling, please click here and donate what you can.
