SIA shows a jump in some snow equipment sales - but snowboards fell

The latest data from the SnowSports Industries Assocation (SIA) shows that snowboard equipment sales fell a bit short this season.

The total equipment market was up 2% in dollars sold:

  • Alpine up 5%
  • Nordic up 11%
  • AT/Randonee up 12.5%

But snowboard equipment sales had an off year, with a decline of 2.65% in dollars sold. That represents almost $80 million in sales lost this season compared to a weak 2008/09.
