The Actions Sports Film Series at Newport Beach kicked off with the world premiere of "Cancer to Capricorn: The Path to the Modern Gypsy." Here's a link to a photo slideshow from that premiere.
The Action Sports series also featured the world premiere of "The Westsiders."
Each movie marked the feature directorial debut for Russell Brownley (Cancer to Capricorn) and Josh Pomer (The Westsiders).
In addition to the screenings on Saturday night, other highlights at the ASFS included:
- The North American premiere of "Somewhere Near Tapachula," Aussie filmmaker Stefan Hunt (Director/Editor/Cinematographer) and Jonne Durrant (Producer/Cinematographer) were at the festival along with the star of the film Pam Skuse.
- "Fiberglass and Megapixels." directed by Craig Hoffman and Derek Hoffman and "Boardheads directed," by Davo Weiss.
- Also, for the first time the festival screened a movie in 3-D, "Ultimate Wave Tahiti." Executive Producer Jeff Cutler attended the screening.
