I’m catching up on some West 49 news about holiday sales that came out while I was at Surf Expo.

The Canadian mall-based retailer released sales details from the five-week holiday period ended Jan. 2.

Net sales: up 5.7% to $36.8 million

Total same store sales: up 3%

West 49 banner same store sales: up 5%

For the quarter-to-date period ended Jan 2:

Net sales: up 0.6% to $51.8 million

Total same store sales: down 1.8%

West 49 banner same store sales: flat

The company operates a total of 136 stores under several banners, including West 49, and is the industry’s largest customer in Canada.
