The Buckle still strong - even against tough comps

Here is a summary of The Buckle’s earnings results for the quarter ended Oct. 31.

The Buckle, an industry customer, operates 405 stores in 41 states and has been one of the strongest retail performers during the recession.

Net sales: up 9.8% to $231.2 million. In the third quarter last year, sales rose 25.7%.

Net income: up 14% to $33.3 million. In the third quarter last year, net income rose 31%.

Same-store sales: up 4.3%. In the third quarter last year, same-store sales rose 19.1%

Online sales: up 41.9% to $12.5 million

Cash and short term investments: $93.6 million
