Nordstrom embraces vampire movie

By TIFFANY MONTGOMERY

Retail experts keep saying stores owners need to find creative ways to drive customers into stores.

While Nordstrom and vampires sound like an odd mix, the upscale retailer is jumping on the "Twilight" movie phenomenon and giving teenagers a compelling reason to visit its BP department.

Starting today, Nordstrom is exclusively selling a juniors clothing and jewelry line from the movie that includes T-shirts, hoodies, dresses and jackets. Prices range from $30 for a T-shirt to $48 for a jacket.

The department store is also offering "Twilight Takeover Parties" on Nov. 14 and 15, where stylists will help young women pull together the Twilight look.

For every $50 spent, customers will get one pass to an advance screening of the "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" movie. Shoppers can also register online to win tickets to the movie premiere.

The first movie was a hit, and led to big sales for Hot Topic, which had exclusive rights to some merchandise last year. This year, Hot Topic has T-shirts, accessories and posters, according to its website.

The second installment of the movie hits theaters Nov. 20.
