Skate group responds to BRA trade show petition

By TIFFANY MONTGOMERY | October 08, 2009 12:44 PM
Some IASC board members and staff at ASR in September

Yesterday, I published a story about the Board Retailers Association circulating a petition that encourages skate brands to return to the trade shows, particularly Surf Expo.

I asked the International Association of Skateboarding Companies for a response, and Executive Director John Bernards sent me this statement from IASC today.

"IASC continues to support industry tradeshows and encourage manufacturers to attend shows that make sense for their business.

"The challenging economic conditions of the past few years have forced manufacturers and retailers to examine every expense their business incurs and make necessary changes to survive and grow.

"IASC has been working closely with tradeshow organizations to create cost effective solutions for manufacturers and looks forward to seeing these implemented.

"IASC believes in and supports tradeshows that bring the entire skateboard industry together and will continue to promote these important industry events that strengthen relationships and unity."
