Before Shop-Eat-Surf, there were two sites I paid for premium content on. One is Surfline, the other is the Wall Street Journal. One is about all things surf, the other, the best business content site in the world. Shop-eat-surf is the intersection of those two worlds. Zumiez comps up 3.3% in October

Zumiez same store sales increased 3.3% in October, the company reported this afternoon.

 

In October 2010, same stores sales increased 21.5%.

 

Comps by week were:

 

1. +4.9%

2. +0.2%

3. +2.1%

4. +6.3%

 

Dollars per transaction increased, while comparable store transactions decreased.

 

Strong categories: Men’s, Footwear, Junior’s.

 

Weak categories: Accessories, Hardgoods, Boys’.

 

Third quarter same store sales: up 6% vs. a 14.4% increase in Q3 of 2010.

 

Year-to-date same store sales: up 8.3% vs. an 11.3% increase in Q3 of 2010.

 

Total stores: 442
