“Shop-Eat-Surf” is now officially, the first stop in the morning for industry news. Accurate reporting, no sensationalism, and just the facts. Refreshing support to an incredible industry with a very bright future. Tiffany has cemented her role in the industry....the site is thought provoking, and inspirational. Learning the stories of others is incredibly useful. Great way to connect the retail community with the wholesale and financial, instantly and nationwide. ... And the Executive Edition rules.

Executive Edition is a must have
Executive Edition is a must have

Before Shop-Eat-Surf, there were two sites I paid for premium content on. One is Surfline, the other is the Wall Street Journal. One is about all things surf, the other, the best business content site in the world. Shop-eat-surf is the intersection of those two worlds. Shop-Eat-Surf provides everything from coverage of events, people, brands and trends. However, beyond the Executive Edition "wall" is more meaty analysis and interpretation of financial statements, business models and brand philosophies; why certain brands and companies are succeeding, where others aren't. The Executive Edition is a must have read if the business of surf and action sports are on your radar screen.

Press Release:

Portland, Oregon – September 1, 2011 – Grenade, Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of Martin Berendsen as the primary consultant for the company’s expanding footwear line. Well-known throughout the industry, Berendsen brings over 25 years of branding and operations experience to the fast-growing Portland, Oregon-based lifestyle apparel company whose art-driven brand is sold online and through retailers around the country and in over 30 countries.

Berendsen has literally been from retailer-door to retailer-door as he was starting his career at 16 in his parents’ stores in Holland. He’s also been at the top of the footwear industry as president or CEO of some of the most recognizable international footwear brands.

The Dutch native’s previous leadership roles include president of Action Sports, a subsidiary of VF International SAGL in Lugano, Switzerland where he oversaw operations for the Vans®, Reef®, and Eastpak® brands; CEO of Reebok and Rockport, and CEO of Dr. Martins Airwair USA, where he increased sales from $80 million to $280 million between 1995 and 2000.

“Martin is a visionary who has renowned experience in building brands and taking companies to the next level,” praised Joseph Condorelli, Grenade CEO. “As we move the company forward, Grenade is proving that we’ll bring in the industry’s top talent to continue our momentum.”

“I had “issues” in High school in the Netherlands,” laughed Berendsen. “I fully understand that rebellious nature that lives in every kid, and I’m still drawn to those brands that go against the grain. Grenade is a rebellious brand, and I’m excited to join the Grenade team and add improved quality to their footwear line.”
