Berendsen has literally been from retailer-door to retailer-door as he was starting his career at 16 in his parents’ stores in Holland. He’s also been at the top of the footwear industry as president or CEO of some of the most recognizable international footwear brands.
The Dutch native’s previous leadership roles include president of Action Sports, a subsidiary of VF International SAGL in Lugano, Switzerland where he oversaw operations for the Vans®, Reef®, and Eastpak® brands; CEO of Reebok and Rockport, and CEO of Dr. Martins Airwair USA, where he increased sales from $80 million to $280 million between 1995 and 2000.
