I’m an avid reader of Shop-Eat-Surf because it’s really the only online newsletter that I have found that is not only industry related, but also because it’s not so “guy-centric.” I find that a lot of the information I read on the site pertains to my business (as a swimwear designer) and keeps me up to date on what other companies and other women in the industry in general are doing which is not only inspiring but also helps me gauge the future direction of my business as well.

I feel privileged to read the Executive Edition because I know I am getting insider industry information before it hits the mainstream media channels. And it’s always good to know what my friends are up to in the industry.

There is no better publication that I am aware of that is so accurate and on top of any news and developments in our industry. I personally recommend it to many people that want to know and understand more about our industry. For the most part, shop-eat-surf.com gets the stories first. As a matter of fact, I require all the executives in our company to read it.

Press Release:

Huntington Beach, Calif., (August 2011) – The Agenda Trade Show returned to Huntington Beach August 3-4, proving to be the most successful show since inception eight years ago. With the expansion of more brands, an additional 30,000 sq-ft-pavilion, and a record number of attendees, Agenda Huntington Beach stands to be the largest action sports and street wear trade show.

“All four shows that occurred this year in the USA had amazing vibes, but this most recent show in Huntington Beach had the most positive, upbeat vibe I have seen at a show since it started,” said Aaron Levant, President of Agenda.

The business-oriented show featured more than 300 brands, including newcomers such as Reef, Sanuk, Sector9, Olukai, Bellroy, Fly Society, Freedom Artists, Freewaters, Keep-A-Breast, Lightning Bolt, The House of Marley, Voleurz, and Black Sheep, a new women’s contemporary line launched by …Lost.

“Congratulations to Agenda for bringing together the best core retailers and compelling lifestyle brands in an easy to use, readily accessible venue,” said Kerry Konrady, Marketing Director for Olukai, who exhibited for the first time at Agenda.

Among retailers and buyers, some attendees included Zumiez, Tillys, PacSun, BC Surf & Sport, Jacks, Maui Nix, 17th Street, Sun Diego, Coastal Edge, Karmaloop.com, Zappos.com, Fred Segal, Industrial Ride Shop, BackCountry.com, Journey's, Gliks, Famous Footwear, Sports Chalet, Active and Val Surf.

Prominent attendees included Sole Technology Founder and CEO Pierre-André Senizergues, Volcom CEO Richard Woolcott, La Jolla Group CEO Toby Bost, Hurley Chairman Bob Hurley, Vans President Kevin Bailey, RVCA President Pat Tenore, Quiksilver EVP Tom Holbrook and Nike Global Vice President of Action Sports Sandy Bodecker.

"This was one of Agenda's best tradeshows. All the right retailers, distributors and manufacturers were there... Energy was high and business was getting written,” said Vice President of Marketing at Sole Technology, Don Brown.

Proving agility and endurance in a tough economic climate, the independently owned Agenda has established itself as the benchmark for actionsports and streetwear trade shows. Next for Agenda is Agenda Tokyo, Japan, August 18th and 19th, 2011.

Then it’s on to Agenda Long Beach, taking place January 5 and 6, 2012 at the Long Beach Convention Center. The new location will help accommodate the growing show to include more exhibitors and attendees.
