The one, undisputed leader
The one, undisputed leader

It is common knowledge in our industry that there is one undisputed leader in reporting on the topics, businesses and trends that impact all of us the most, and it is shop-eat-surf.com. Their access to those who make our industry happen is second to none, and we value not only the content of their reporting but the editorial thought on what it all means both in the present as well as the future. If we were asked to give a rating, it would be five out of five stars.

It pertains to my business
It pertains to my business

I’m an avid reader of Shop-Eat-Surf because it’s really the only online newsletter that I have found that is not only industry related, but also because it’s not so “guy-centric.” I find that a lot of the information I read on the site pertains to my business (as a swimwear designer) and keeps me up to date on what other companies and other women in the industry in general are doing which is not only inspiring but also helps me gauge the future direction of my business as well.

I feel privileged to read the Executive Edition because I know I am getting insider industry information before it hits the mainstream media channels. And it’s always good to know what my friends are up to in the industry.

Press Release:

DC JOINS THE “11 IN 11” CAMPAIGN WITH A SHOE DRIVE TO BENEFIT SOLES4SOULS® INC THRU THE MONTH OF AUGUST

August 3, 2011 – HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – DC announced today they will partner with national charitable organization Soles4Souls, to help reach their goal for the “11 in 11” campaign. This amazing campaign aims to collect and distribute 11 million shoes in 2011 to people living in extremepoverty and recovering from natural disasters.

DC will be collecting lightly worn shoes at 24 participating stores across the country during the month of August to help drive the effort. For more information on DC stores near you, check out: http://store.dcshoes.com/storeLocator2/index.jsp.

“It's always been a big initiative for DC to support the community and reach out to those in need. We are really excited to join forces with Sole4Souls for this great campaign,” said DC’s VP of Marketing Jeff Taylor.

With the recent natural disasters that have affected some of DC’s Japanese locations, DC is stepping up to reach out to those in need. Join the effort by bringing your used shoes in to your nearest DC store and as a thank you, DC will offer a 30% discount off a new pair of shoes purchased that day. Your donation will better the life of someone in need.

“With tragedies such as the earthquakes in countries like Haiti and Japan, on top of the enormous needs elsewhere, we can use the estimated 1.5 billion shoes taking up space in the closets of ordinary people to change the world one pair at a time,” said Founder and CEO of Soles4Souls, Wayne Elsey.

Soles4Souls is a charity that collects new shoes to give relief to the victims of abject suffering and collects used shoes to support micro-business efforts to eradicate poverty. The shoe charity provides one pair of shoes to a person in need every 7 seconds.

Since 2005, Soles4Souls has distributed more than 13 million pairs of shoes because of the generosity and commitment of people and organizations like DC. Soles4Souls’ other two divisions, Clothes4Souls and Hope4Souls, provide the same relief and support through clothing and other necessities. Donating parties are eligible for tax advantages.
