Executive Edition is a must have
Executive Edition is a must have

Before Shop-Eat-Surf, there were two sites I paid for premium content on. One is Surfline, the other is the Wall Street Journal. One is about all things surf, the other, the best business content site in the world. Shop-eat-surf is the intersection of those two worlds. Shop-Eat-Surf provides everything from coverage of events, people, brands and trends. However, beyond the Executive Edition "wall" is more meaty analysis and interpretation of financial statements, business models and brand philosophies; why certain brands and companies are succeeding, where others aren't. The Executive Edition is a must have read if the business of surf and action sports are on your radar screen.

L*Space update from Monica Wise

By Shelby Stanger
July 08, 2011 7:10 AM

LSpace coverupWe catch up with Monica Wise, founder, creative director and lead designer of L*Space, to find out what’s new with the brand as she and her team get ready for the Miami Swim Show.

What's new style wise?

For 2012, we are rolling out new styles such as under wires, push-ups and fabricated macramé styles as well as a full coverage top silhouette.

What's hot for spring now?

Fabric details and cutouts are strong looks in the 2012 collection.

What have been some of your best selling items?

Our Dolly Fringe Bandeau is by far our best selling item as well as our hipster bottom called Taboo with a soft open tab side.

Are you guys continuing to grow?

LSpace Swim suitWe continue to grow each season while capturing new markets as well.

What is new business-wise?

The swim category seems to be growing within the retail space, and we have had luck on our side with some great early weather this year.

Swim retailed better this season than last season and much earlier.

Last time we checked in, you were getting into some new categories like apparel. How’s it going?

We’re very excited to go deeper within our apparel category, and we have finalized a great range of styles to launch for the 2012 season such as shorts, cover-ups and beach tunics.

Anything else new you want to tell us about?

Next week, we are heading to the largest international swim tradeshow, The Miami Swim Show. During that week, we will also be showing our 2012 collection on the runway during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and this year, our show is full of surprises.

We can’t wait to debut our collection in front of our retailers, and media. It’s going to be one of the hottest shows in Miami - guaranteed. These past few months have been filled with preparation for our big debut.

Also, we are collaborating with cosmetic brand Stila on a gorgeous palate of eye shadows, blushes, and bronzers. Stila will be doing our makeup for the show in Miami and we will be introducing the collaboration at the tradeshow that week.
