Joint Base USA and Zippo Manufacturing Company have partnered together to launch Zippo Apparel. The collection will feature original artwork and photography dating back to 1932 when George G Blaisdell invented the iconic lighter. The history, success and quality of the brand will be reflected throughout the line which will consist of tees, denim, twills, fleece, knits, wovens, hats and belts.


Zippo Apparel recently opened headquarters in the unique Pershing Historical Building in downtown LA and has attracted top talent to its executive team each with over 20 years of experience: Ingrid Martin, instrumental in launching Dickies Girl and a consultant for major brands in the duty free industry, is responsible for all sales activities. Mary Bang’s experience consists of domestic and import production from Rampage to Dickies, is in charge of sourcing and production. Todd Proffit, former professional snowboarder and marketing guru for Quiksiver, Roxy, Dickies Girl and most recently Alstyle Apparel, manages creative and marketing.


The Joint Base USA team first met when working together in 2001. Since that time they have collaborated on a number of projects. So when Ingrid Martin returned from the Duty Free Show in Cannes with a Zippo contact and the idea for Zippo Apparel she quickly contacted Bang and Proffit to say, “It’s time!”


Regarding the Zippo brand, Martin(SR VP of Sales), commented, “When I visited the Zippo headquarters, every person I met - from the assembly line workers to the management level - was so proud to be part of such an iconic brand. I can honestly say that I witnessed a true American company that cherishes to this day all their employees and I feel honored to be part of such a team.”


Zippo Apparel acquired the rights to Duty Free world-wide and will officially launch the line early 2011.
