Hobie Surf Shops will take over the old Becker Surf location in Corona del Mar, Hobie Surf Shops Partner and General Manager Jake Schwaner told me.

"There was a ripe opportunity with a premier location 'Back on PCH' in a prime beach town in South Orange County," he said.

The original and long-closed Hobie store was located on PCH in Dana Point.  Hobie is currently in the midst of relocating an off-Pacific Coast Highway Dana Point store to a new location on PCH in Dana Point.

"Although we are in a "relocation" mode for our Dana Point store. ...when there is a swell you take advantage of it and go for it," Jake said. "Here we go again. We are nuts for sure!"

Hobie is leasing the Corona del Mar space but bought the building in Dana Point. The Dana Point store is expected to open on July 2.
