Billabong king of summer

Cary Allington of ActionWatch emailed me some same-store sales information for core boardsport stores for July.

I also asked him what brand had the best results in boardshorts this summer. He told me Billabong was the top brand for June and July, the two peak months for boardshort sales.

Here's the rest of Cary's report on July results:

- July sales were down overall by over 4% compared to last year, pulled down mostly by hardgoods.

- Within apparel, boardshorts were slightly down while walk shorts were down by more than 14%. Shirts were up for both genders and dresses were up yet again, with an increase over last year of almost 13%.

- Sandals were down single digits while shoe sales increased for both genders.

- Sunglasses had a strong increase of almost 17%.

-Both surf and skate hardgoods were down double digits.
